On a more tissue and cellular level there are few pathways that leads to dysfunction and pathological states and surgical sampling at different points in the disease processes can help us better understand their natural history and potential response to therapy.

Developing high fidelity 2/3D models from such samples can help us personalise treatments and make them more targeted.
