Dr Sandrine Willaime-Morawek and her group have developed a human iPSC-derived 3D neural culture model as a promising and physiologically relevant system with a mix of astrocytes and mature neurons, including both excitatory and inhibitory neurons. They believe that the 3D culture would be a good model to study aspects of the neurodegenerative and neurodevelopmental pathologies, neuroinflammation with the addition of microglia, and may also be used for compound screening.
